Carlo Colonna, his wife, Barbara and two daughters Cari-Anne and Belinda have owned and operated the very popular La Capannina ristorante in Ramsgate North since November 1990.
Carlo, a gifted cabinetmaker and keen beach bowls player, says the pizzas, baked to perfection in the restaurant’s wood-fire oven, are his responsibility. But it is his wife, Barbara, who has the culinary talents which have put the restaurant quite firmly on the map and account for La Capannina’s continued popularity, he admits. Brodette Dell Adricatrico, a traditional fishermen’s soup, originating from the region where Carlo grew up, is just one of La Capannina’s truly outstanding specialities. The Trippa Florentina is so popular with die hard tripe eaters.
La Capannina’s selection of pasta dishes, always made from the freshest produce available and flavoured with herbs grown in the Colonnas’ garden, are all recommended.
